Breedin' Breeders | Sister's Baby Shower
Last weekend, I attended my older sister's baby shower @ 26 Beach Cafe in Marina Del Rey, CA. Now, I'm not a party all the time, party all the time kind of guy, but I do like going out. So I was bitter that my sister's baby shower was to be on Saturday of the Los Angeles Gay Pride Weekend... Saturday day should be for recuperating from Friday night! Not hanging with breeders & celebrating their "biologically correct" union...Yuck! But it was brunch, so it didn't really impede on any of the scheduled events that I wanted to attend so it worked out well. The brunch was a blast and I got to have some meaningful conversations with my in-laws about a lot of things, which was really nice.
I've always said "I never want children" because I figured that the world is already overpopulated, society is currently a fuckin' brain fart, and kids are so damn needy and want to be selfish. My relationship with my family has always been a bit strained and distant, but recently I've seen some pretty amazing family dynamics that kinda got me thinking that I could possibly want to have a kid some day... I know, I know. I would think that I would be the last person to think that, but here I am...
I really like the idea of passing on the knowledge & understanding to the future generations; literally contributing to society. Now, I'm not into the whole "playing god" aspect to raising a kid, I don't want to force my kid into believing the things I do or see the world the same way either. I just want to present them with the tools they need to make those decisions and assessments themselves... But seriously a kid is the best social and psychological experiment ever...
The one thing that I hate is when people are just not ready to have a child, but they still keep it because their religion says so. Those people are just fuckin' up that child and their own lives, thus contributing to the mental retardation of society. "Oops, I didn't pull out in time" is not a great foundation for a family....
Although I'm uncertain if I will ever have children, or even be presented the opportunity to start a family. But seeing my sister and her husband's methodologies for raising children, it definately made me have hope for society. I wish my sister and her husband all luck with raising their kid and that they have a beautiful & healthy baby...
-Just don't expect me to babysit...
